A Trip to the Museum

Today we went to the Museum of Natural Science with my brother and his son. My sister-in-law is about to give birth to twins, so we decided to give her a break and let her stay home. The kids had a great time and enjoyed seeing the dinosaurs the best.

Happy Independence Day!!

We had a nice 4th of July. In the morning we met some friends at a park. We had a great time until it started raining. In the evening we went to the race track to watch the fireworks display with my brother and his family. Katie and Sarah both hate the noise of fireworks, but both did amazingly well. This is a picture of Katie and Sarah with their cousin, Ben, waiting for the fireworks show to start (notice the earmuffs we got at Lowe's to reduce the noise).

4 Years Ago Today

Four years ago today, my mother and I were waiting to meet my daughter. We were in the director's office with about 6 other people who were talking loudly and quickly in
kazakh. Then, a caretaker brings in a scared little girl, dressed in yellow. It was little Aynura, as they affectionately called her. She was 16 months old and the most beautiful baby in the world.

I can't belive that scared little toddler is now my 5 year old (going on 16 year old) little princess. Katie is a caring, affectionate, intelligent little girl and I am so thankful to be her mother. She is a wonderful daughter and an even more wonderful big sister.

In some ways it seems so long ago, but in others it seems like only yesterday. Where has the time gone??

Happy Mother's Day!!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day!! Mine was fabulous~ my first as a mom of two. The girls and I got my mom 2 trees for Mother's Day, in honor of my dad who loved his trees. We got a water oak and a willow oak. They are beautiful trees. To celebrate, we went out to eat at Denny's. Katie told the waitess, "Sarah is from China. That means she's CHINESE!!" Funny.

Katie told me all weekend, "Happy Mother's Day!!" We had "Muffins with Mom" at her school on Friday. Katie made me a flower pot at school. It was a great weekend.

A trip to the farm

Today we went with my sister-in-law Wendy to her mom's farm. Katie and Sarah had a great time with their cousin Ben. They especially liked the dogs and the horses.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!! We had a great day and Katie really enjoyed herself. She is now 4 and this was her first year to really "get it". The second picture above is of Katie and her cousins. Katie loves her cousins to pieces and I am so thankful we got to spend time with them today.

Katie's cousin (my nephew) was baptised yesterday. Here is a cute picture of them together. Katie is almost 4 and Ben is six months old. He almost outweighs her. He is a big baby!!
